NEWS RELEASE 

    Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District is announcing their Annual Business meeting to be conducted at the 4-H Fairgrounds in Switz City on Tuesday, February 19,2013, at 6:30 p.m.  (Snow date will be the following Tuesday, February 26)

The meal will be catered by 3 Generations and will be provided by Soil and Water.  RSVP required. Please RSVP by February 12 to Deborah Lynn at (812) 384-4781 X 3 so she can put your name on the list. 

    Kevin Orpurt, a native of Peru, Indiana, has been forecasting weather for the WTHI-TV since 1985. He has one daughter named Christine.  His passion for weather was first awakened by his grandmother, who taught him to forecast by the signs of nature when he was 6 years old.

He learned the scientific methods of forecasting at Vincennes University and Indiana State University. He is convinced that weather has been a significant influence on human events throughout history. Kevin has been awarded the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval for his work in both television and radio. He is the author of a daily newspaper feature, Kevin's Weather, which is published by newspapers in Indiana and Illinois.

Kevin will be speaking on weather patterns and history.  He will talk about his outlook for the coming season and close with a question and answer session.

Adam Grossman, Plummer Creek Watershed Coordinator will be giving us an update on the Watershed Management Plan and 319 Funding for the same.  The Watershed Environmental Team (WET) will be presenting a skit.  Adam will introduce them and recognize their efforts this past year.

The Greene County Conservation Farmer of the Year will be announced.

Randy Koenig will be running for re-election to the Board of Supervisors and Steve Crowe is up for reappointment.
